Re-Introduction of our son...

I feel the need to re-introduce our son to the world. I think I am going to have to change his name from Tristan Bradly to Shartakus Doesn't Sleepalot Mince. I cannot remember going thru so many diapers with Tobbie. You can't hardly get a clean diaper on this little man before he has pooped himself again. I literally changed 5 poopy diapers in a 30 minute period last night. By the time I could get the last little snap on his sleeper done, he would poop himself again. And to top it off, the "Doesn't Sleepalot" part of his new name means just that, he doesn't sleep a lot during the night (I know, most babies don't sleep all night but this kid is up every hour on the hour). And this kid can eat. It seems like he eats non-stop! I will now leave you with a photo of our son, Shartakus.

Tristan's two week check up

We had Tristan's two week check up today and he now weighs 7lbs. 4oz. He is growing, growing, growing. Now if we could just get him to sleep during the night!

Christmas is over, the good and bad

Christmas is over. I always seem a little sad the day after Christmas. I guess the reason is that my birthday and Christmas are only 10 days apart and unlike people with other month birthdays, they have a different month to look forward to that celebrates them. I am extremely grateful for the special people in my life that help men to celebrate my day (seriously, thank you Tristan for putting me in labor on my birthday, it will be one I will never forget), but I have always wanted to have a pool party growing up. And I have blessed both of my children with December and January winter birthdays and they will experience the same thing. That is the bad.

The good is that I can take down the big tree in my living room and get it back in "order". I think everyone in our house was very happy with what Santa brought them. Tobbie has fallen in love with her new doll house (I think Santa 'bout became an alcoholic from putting it together) and it literally looked like Toys R Us exploded in our living room.n Tristan did what most 9 day old infants do, he slept. I think the funniest thing was Tobbie freaking out over the milk and cookies being gone when she woke up. I don't think she quite understood the whole Santa thing, but she understood enough to know that he was going to leave her presents. Oh, and if you ask her where Santa lives, she will tell you "at the mall". All because she saw him at the mall. Kids are so darn cute!

I will post pictures in the morning because I am too lazy to go downstairs to get the camera and upload the megazillion photos we took yesterday. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

SNOWED IN!

We are officially snowed in! I will post pics a little later on, but we seriously have probably over a foot of snow on the ground. Being from Georgia, this just blows my mind. I am not complaining because it is definitely better than the rain, but we are stuck inside. That isn't a bad thing considering we have a newborn. Yesterday our activities included: putting together the new double stroller, making cut out sugar cookies, playing with the cardboard tube from the roll of wrapping paper, napping, helping Tobbie wrap her gifts to Tristan, watching movies and being outright lazy. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Tobbie is doing wonderful as a big sister and Tristan seems to fit in perfectly with our family dynamic (he has to, he has no other choice). But I must add that my children were testing me this morning starting at 2 AM. Tristan decided to nurse on and off from 2 AM until 7 AM and Tobbie woke up at 4 AM wanting to get in our bed. I caved and let her win the fight. Then at 5 AM she started screaming that she wanted to go downstairs and watch TV. I caved once more. Getting a schedule down with 2 children is a little more difficult than I expected. It will work out in due time.

Ok, check back in a bit for the pic updates and I hope everyone has a great week (you gotta, Santa comes this week!).

Our sweet baby boy has arrived!

So, I kind of got my birthday wish. After a nice long manicure, pedicure and lunch out with the girls (Mexican food I might add), Tobbie and I went home to take a nap before Michael got home from work. At 4:00 p.m., Michael got home and we were going to get ready to go out for a birthday dinner. Well, I stood up and my water broke! Needless to say, we didn't go out to dinner that night. We instead got Tobbie ready to go to a friends house and off we went to the hospital (all 4 miles away).

Tristan Bradly Mince was born on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 0157 in the AM. He weighed in at 6 pounds 2 ounces and 19 3/4 inches long. He is absolutely gorgeous! So, in a way I got my birthday wish, labor.

Tobbie is the ULTIMATE big sister. She likes to refer to him as "her baby". She is extremely helpful and wants to do everything for him. She had a hard time while we were still inpatients at the hospital with the doctors and nurses checking out Tristan. She would constantly ask, "Mommy, what is that man doing to my baby?" It was too cute.

Well, we are at home and just finishing up getting ready for Christmas. I one extra stocking that I need to hang now and that will be done today. I am still giddy over my new little man. He is perfect!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Well, as of today I am another year older. I have realized that I am lazy at a lot of things and I really have no excuse for it. With 2008 coming to an end and 2009 fast approaching, our family has and will have a lot of changes going on.

Currently, we are awaiting the arrival of baby Tristan Bradly to join our family to round it out to 4 (7 if you count the dogs and Buddy the guinea pig). Multiple times a day Tobbie asks when her baby Tristan is going to come home. How I wish I had an answer for her, but I don't and I can only tell her soon. I can't be pregnant forever right? I am starting to feel like an elephant and am wondering if I will carry this child for 22 or so months. My gracious doctor offered to induce me on Christmas Eve, but I have turned him down. Tobbie is really into Christmas this year and thou she doesn't know the exact day, I would know that I messed up her Christmas one year. And, what if Tristan hated me for the rest of his life for "choosing" that to be his birthday? Dr. Batig did say that they would induce at 42 weeks if he hasn't arrived by then. So Sarah and Elvis, Tristan could be joining you on the birthday festivities on January 8th. But I think Michael will take the Doc out in the hallway and show him what he is made of if this kid isn't born in 2008. Who wouldn't want an additional tax deduction?

Another wonderful thing is Michael was promoted to Major 2 weeks ago! Now I can go and do some "Major" spending as my mother in law put it. Michael didn't find that too funny when I told him. Oh well, I can blame it on Christmas and being pregnant for the time being!

In other wonderful news, Princess Tobbie is potty training! Today will be day 5 of no diapers. She is in love with her panties. The only problem is she doesn't want to poop in the potty and we had a fight over it last night. I have decided to let her win on that fight for the time being. She does however ask for her night night panties (pull ups) when she has to go. I can go with that. The only problem is she keeps asking for Deigo panties. They do not make Deigo panties. Deigo is for boys and it makes her mad. I can't decide if I will let her wear "boy" underwear. It keeps messing with my head.

Well, that is currently all I have to say. I know that I have tried this once before and I let it fall to pieces, but a new year is approaching and now that I am "older and grown up", I can stick with it.
